Our group of tutors represent one of our greatest assets. Apart from being fully qualified to teach English as a Foreign Language with third level and teaching qualifications, they are enthusiastic and very friendly hosts who fully understand what is needed for a successful course. This is an essential part of being an Immersion tutor.
TUTOR PROFILE: We welcome hearing from experienced native English speaking tutors with internationally accredited EFL qualifications who would like to teach from their homes while hosting one student at a time. Our courses are nearly always on a one-to-one basis and generally last from one to two or three weeks. We offer professional and general courses providing 15 to 25 hours tuition per week on a full board basis. From time to time and on request we offer 2 to 1 courses where students of similar standard take lessons together with the tutor. All our tutors hold a professional and/or university qualification in addition to an internationally recognised teaching qualification as many of our courses are professional and business oriented. We particularly welcome hearing from families comprising two or more members as this profile best suits immersion courses based on client feedback.
Experience and qualifications that are internationally recognised are absolute conditions for working with us and accordingly we pay good fees to the right tutors. As bookings can be seasonal and unpredictable we cannot guarantee regular work throughout the year but we try to work closely with tutors who enjoy what they do and make their students feel at ease while providing a professional service. This form of teaching demands that you are able to give your full attention to our courses when accepted and it is not for everyone. It is without doubt rewarding for those who enjoy meeting people of many different nationalities and backgrounds and love what they do. If you are looking for a job try one of the language schools as this is not what we offer.
If you subscribe to our ideals set out below, are native English speaking, hold a recognised qualification for teaching English as a second or other language described above, and can offer a high level of comfort in your home, we would like to hear from you.
OUR IDEALS: We offer a specialised service in the one-to-one home stay tuition end of the market. This is suited to the individual student rather than groups; however, we work with companies to solve their language needs on a one-to-one basis. We do not accept large groups and in this way we can realistically make a commitment to provide quality. We firmly believe our one-to-one immersion courses should always be focused on the individual student and if you hold the same views then we welcome hearing from you.
TUTOR'S QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have internationally recognised qualifications for teaching English as a Foreign Language. Tutors must hold qualifications such as Trinity College (TESOL), Cambridge/RSA, CELTA, a third level teaching degree or similar fully recognised qualification. There is absolutely no exception to this requirement. In addition, for professional courses, our tutors must be qualified and experienced in their relevant business or professional career including examinations.
COMPLIANCE: We are required to apply for Garda Vetting for all tutors who take certain types of learner. You may already have this for other purposes but we are obliged to have our own. We comply with best practice by requesting this for all our tutors. This takes the form of an online application with proof of identification. We will provide necessary information.
LOCATIONS: At present, most of our tutors are based in the Dublin area and adjacent north Wicklow area. However, we welcome tutors from the Southern and Western seaboard who would like to join our team. Tutors should be conveniently located near public transport and be able to collect students from the nearest airport, bus or train station. It is desirable to have the use of a car if you are not situated in a city.
ACCOMMODATION: A comfortable home is a must and we will need to meet you there. We can discuss this in more detail when you contact us and alert you to requirements.
IMPORTANT: If you are appropriately qualified as clearly set out on this page and interested in working as a tutor with us, please firstly complete the short form in the adjoining column and we will reply to you as soon as possible. We do not accept telephone applications. Take a look though our website to see what we do and establish that you have the experience and qualifications necessary to present our courses. Thank you.
